Greeting message

With the permission of the 26th Head of the Kongo School, Kongo Hisanori, I am glad to announce that I will now host my first performance as an independent actor. Noh theatre has been performed uninterruptedly for 650 years. I believe this has been possible because actors have passed on the notion of “ichigo ichie” (‘treasure every meeting, for it will never recur’), which expresses the unique meeting of the audience with the beauty of Noh.
I am still a young actor in the world of Noh. However, thirty years have passed since my first performance, when, as a child, I stood on stage without understanding anything. Gradually I have come to realize the true beauty of Noh by watching experienced actors and teachers both on stage and backstage. As a Noh actor I intend to devote the next thirty years to perfect my art and create of performances that will satisfy and inspire my audience.
As a first step on this long and wonderful journey, I will perform a very challenging play, the Noh Mochizuki, thanks to the support of all the masters who taught me the beauty of Noh. I truly wish to create the future of Noh theatre with you who will attend the Tatsushige no Kai performance events. Together we will create an unrepeatable moment of “ichigo ichie”.
